Second annual Paul deLay Memorial Concert Sunday, April 20

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Celebrate the life, music and spirit of Paul de Lay and kick off the 2008 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, Sunday, April 20, 6 to 10 p.m., Kridel Grand Ballroom, Portland Art Museum, 1219 S.W. Park in Portland.

DeLay, Portland's beloved harmonica ace, passed away on March 7, 2007 from complications due to late stage leukemia. He was a long-time friend of Oregon Food Bank and was a major highlight throughout the Waterfront Blues Festival's history.

The concert will feature Portland's finest blues musicians, including Duffy Bishop, Linda Hornbuckle, Lloyd Jones, Terry Robb, Joe McMurrian, Jimi Bott, Fiona Boyes, Bill Rhoades and Jim Wallace.

Special guests include Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps. Born in Houston, now based in Los Angeles, Teresa James is a triple threat pianist, songwriter and vocalist who has performed with Levon Helm, Delbert McClinton, Bonnie Raitt and more. At Paul deLay's debut in the early 1990s at B.B. King's Club, Teresa performed the duet "Someday Baby, Maybe Our Luck Will Change."

The event is hosted by former members of the Paul deLay Band:David Vest and D.K. Stewart on keyboards, Peter Dammann on guitar, Dave Kahl and Don Campbell on bass, and Jeff Minnick and Kelly Dunn on drums.

In addition to fabulous music, the event will feature an unveiling of the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival's 2008 artwork, a display of photos from past festivals, new information about the festival's lineup and more.

All funds raised will go toward a new Paul deLay scholarship program at Ethos Music Center in northeast Portland.
